What Is Kaps Exam?

The Knowledge Assessment of Pharmaceutical Sciences (KAPS) is an exam to assess knowledge and learning in pharmaceutical sciences of overseas registered pharmacist. The KAPS Exam is conducted by Australian Pharmacy council.

Knowledge stream pathway includes the Knowledge Assessment of Pharmaceutical Sciences (KAPS), an evaluating exam which an overseas registered pharmacist must pass to practice pharmacy in Australia. This exam assesses your understanding and knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences and the candidates will be eligible to sit for the KAPS exam without having to pass the language exam. However, before beginning an internship, you must pass both the KAPS and the language exam (OET, PTE, IELTS).

  • It applies if you have completed pharmacy qualification in any country other than

  4. New Zealand

  6. USA.

You need the outcome to

  1. Support visa application
  2. Apply for provisional registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.

Your Qualification

Your qualification must be equivalent of either

• 4 years full-time academic study, if completed after 1 January 2006, OR

• 3 years full-time academic study, if completed before 1 January 2006

Besides the graduate degree in pharmacy, you must also be

• Registered as a pharmacist in the country where you graduated
OR

• Eligible to be registered as a pharmacist in that country
OR

• Eligible to start the registration process in that country.
